Bird-watchers in eastern Pennsylvania counted a record number of migrating bald eagles this fall, 404 smashing the old record of 245 set two years ago at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary near Kempton. The sanctuary has kept a tally of migrating birds since its founding 76 years ago. The bald eagle has made a remarkable comeback following a century of decline. It was removed from the endangered species list in 2007. One expert calls it "possibly the greatest wildlife success story of our time."
