BATON ROUGE- Thousands of college students graduated today in Baton Rouge and will soon make the move into the workforce.
Competition is tough with millions of people across the country still looking for work, but some grads already have jobs waiting for them.
Southern University engineering major Fate Whiting says he has several interviews lined up. According to the National Association of College and Employers, engineering is one of the highest paying and and sought-after careers right now.
"It's refreshing to know that I'm not as worried about what my next step is going to be," Whiting said.
Psychology majors like Bryanna Zowniak are joining others who are finding work quickly.
"I definitely feel like I'm going to be able to find a job," Zowniak said.
Another in-demand industy is computer science. Salaries are starting between $60,000 and $70,000 on average.
The average starting salary for recent grads is $27,000.
