Recall petition filed against Gov. Jindal
BATON ROUGE - A recall petition has been filed against Gov. Bobby Jindal by a couple from Opelousas.
Ronnie Ray Ceasar says he is trying to get the governor recalled because he's unhappy with budget cuts that have stripped millions from higher education and health care. Ceasar also calls Jindal arrogant in the way he has handled the reductions.
No one has ever successfully gathered enough signatures to get a recall election scheduled against a statewide official in Louisiana. A spokesman for the Secretary of State's Office says Ceasar has 180 days to gather more than 908,000 signatures for a Jindal recall election.
Ceasar filed the petition Wednesday. It lists he and his wife Joyce as the filers.
The governor's office didn't immediately comment on the petition.
Four previous recall petitions against Jindal have expired without success.
