The Army Corps of Engineers' refusal to certify levees in Rapides Parish is bringing the governments of the parish and its two biggest cities together for a joint meeting.
Alexandria Mayor Jacques Roy says he and Pineville Mayor Clarence Fields and Police Jury President Richard Billings have been working together.
He says the most important job is finding money to fix the levees, so home and business owners with federally backed mortgages don't have to buy flood insurance.
The Corps has said that will cost about $4.3 million.
The proposed meeting would be the first time the three governments have held a joint meeting.
