THIBODAUX, La. - A former Lafourche Parish sheriff's deputy accused of repeatedly raping a 6-year-old relative is scheduled for trial Wednesday.

The Daily Comet reports that 34-year-old David Lewellen is charged with aggravated rape. When he was arrested in August 2010, deputies said he allegedly had sex with the child over a nine month period.

Lewellen is a Mississippi native who worked at the Sheriff's Office as a corrections officer and patrol deputy during two
stints.

He has been moved several times, and is being held in Concordia Parish in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
