Rape, attempted murder charges after hotel shooting
BATON ROUGE - One man is in jail after an alleged sex deal ended in a shooting early this morning.
Clifton Lee Jones, 37, was arrested after reports of gunfire in a room at the Comfort Suites on Valley Creek.
Police say Jones was climbing out a rear window when officers arrived at the room around 4:00 a.m.
He was caught after a short chase.
Investigators believe it began as an agreement between Jones and two 21 year old women to meet at the hotel for sex.
Police say Jones became upset, pulled a gun, fired it several times, then decided to rape and rob the women.
He is in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, charged with Aggravated Rape, Attempted Aggravated Rape, Armed Robbery, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and other charges.
