Rap videos show street gang in action
BATON ROUGE - A group of people arrested in a multi-parish raid posted several videos of themselves staging drive-by-shootings and singing about selling drugs.
The Big Money Block Boys are a known street gang in south Baton Rouge. BRAVE arrested seven people involved with the group Friday morning during a raid.
District Attorney Hillar Moore told WBRZ News 2 authorities arrested the crew for being involved in a murder.
"We told them if you take these particular steps, if you shoot someone, we're coming after you," Moore said. "We lived up to our promise."
Moore would not go into details about what murder he believes the group is involved with.
None of the people arrested were charged with murder.
Moore called the group violent but he was hesitant to call them - or any other groups like them - a gang.
"We don't have your traditional gangs that people are familiar with like in L.A., New York or Boston. We don't have those types of gangs," Moore said. "They're not really formally organized. Their membership moves from group to group. If you are in a gang, you are not moving from one gang to another. Other cities and other states do have some gangs that meet that criteria. We just don't. They're street groups. That's their appropriate title."
