My Mom resides in a small town in Western PA, Ellwood City. When she mentioned that my brother Mark was assisting in "rakin' the leaves," it brought back a Fall memory. Similar to yards here in Baton Rouge, Mom's yard is covered with leaves due to wind direction and maple trees in adjacent yards. The leaf raking routine is a wonderful Autumn experience. Once raked, the leaves are transported to the back of the property where they are separated into smaller piles and burnt. It seems the EPA hasn't been to Wiley Hill where the process takes place and the smell of burning leaves is a subtle reminder that Fall is ending and the winter winds are about to blow. Another use of leaves, tomorrow.
