DALLAS- The suit actor Gene Kelly wore as he danced in a downpour in "Singing in the Rain" in 1952 is up for auction at $20,000.
Memorabilia collector Gerry Sola had the suit for more than 40 years after he bought it for $10 at a sale of MGM props and wardrobe items in 1970.
Heritage Auctions offers it for sale Friday in Dallas.
Sola is a retired postal worker and traveled to Los Angeles to the MGM sale.
It started as an auction but progressed to a garage sale with racks of clothing for sale.
He says he sorted through the racks until he came across the gray wool suit made famous in the musical.
