Rain pushes LSU baseball game back
BATON ROUGE - Rainy skies forced LSU's baseball team to push back the start of their series against Auburn Friday night.
LSU announced on Twitter they'd try to get underway at 9 p.m. CT Friday. Ground crews had the tarp out at Alex Box Field just before 6 p.m.
The top-ranked Tigers (29-5, 8-4 SEC) went 4-0 last week, which included a three-game sweep at Alabama. They've won 16 games in their last 22 against Auburn (20-13, 4-8 SEC).
"Auburn is a very good club with a lot of talented ball players," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "They have an outstanding pitching staff that will challenge our hitters throughout the weekend. This series already marks the halfway point of the SEC schedule, and it's a very important series for us as we strive to attain the goals we set prior to the season."
