A raccoon caused a power outage in downtown Baton Rouge that left many people without heat overnight.

An Entergy spokesman says the raccoon got into the substation on River Road, which caused about 1,000 customers to lose power around 3:30 a.m. Friday.  It was restored around 5 a.m.

Another outage on Highland Road left 164 customers in the cold.  Entergy says a line fuse blew around 4 a.m.  The power was restored around 5:30 a.m.
