Questions about planning director candidate qualifications
BATON ROUGE - Donald Broussard is one of several candidates being considered for the Director of Planning in East Baton Rouge Parish. Newly revealed questions about his qualifications have some commissioners concerned, though.
Broussard admitted through email that he does not have a valid certificate from the American Institute of Certified Planners. That information was provided after Broussard's name was added to the list of hopefuls by Planning Commissioner John Price.
"The other candidates have the certification and Mr. Broussard does not," said Planning Commissioner Sarah Holliday-James. "I'll need to ask some questions at the meeting as to whether or not that's a (job) requirement."
The former planning director stepped down last year. Commissioners began evaluating all of the candidates and their qualifications at their meeting Monday night.
Monday, the planning board approved accepting the resumes of the candidates and moving forward with interviews and eventually hiring someone to fill the position.
