WALKER- A Walker man says the city euthanized his dogs while he was out of town. Mark Lambert says he did not receive any type of notice. He says it seems like there would at least be a notice taped to his door explaining what happened.
Walker Mayor Bobby Font says the city had to take immediate action because the dogs were aggressive. They were euthanized one day after being caught. Font says a city ordinance allows the city to waive the five day hold before euthanizing animals if they are determined to be aggressive. The dogs escaped from Lambert's fenced in yard. They attacked a cat at one neighbor's home and a dog at another. The mayor also says the dogs were aggressive when animal control and police arrived on the scene.
The owner of the cat says Lambert has offered to replace her pet. Lambert says he would like to know if the persons responsible for a recent break in near his home were responsible for the dogs getting loose. He says the dogs have never been aggressive.
