Puerto Rico Shell station sold a winner
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - Somebody who stopped by a Shell station in Puerto Rico has won a share of a $564.1 million Powerball jackpot - the first winner outside the continental United States.
The other winners are in North Carolina and Texas.
The Puerto Rico winner hasn't yet come forward, but the news caused excitement at the gasoline station in the city of Ponce.
Station employee Yomaris Rentas says she'd just started her shift Thursday when the lottery machine began printing a message that the winning ticket had been sold there.
In her words, "I couldn't believe it! ... We're celebrating."
Puerto Rico lottery officials say the winner can choose between a lump sum payment of $101.6 million or 30 payments over 29 years.
