POINTE COUPEE - The Sheriff's office in Pointe Coupee reported Tuesday that an inmate who escaped after a vehicle crash was captured at around 3:30 p.m.

Deljoati Smith took off as he was being brought back to the jail from a skills training facility in Lacassine.

Smith was convicted of simple burglary of inhabited dwelling.
