Port Allen police released video in the search for a hit-and-run driver who seriously injured a pedestrian February 17 on Commercial Drive.

The vehicle enters the frame from the upper-left corner of the screen, but the impact with the pedestrian is not easily seen. The model of the vehicle also can't easily be determined, but investigators believe it's a large, four-door red sedan, possibly 80s- to 90s-model.

The driver pauses for about 15 seconds, according to the clock in the video, then leaves traveling east on Commercial. The crash happened before 6 a.m. Police retrieved video of the incident from surveillance cameras outside the Martin Brower Company.

Although the vehicle is hard to see, there is other traffic in the area around the time of the crash, including a westbound dark-colored pickup truck that likely passed the wanted driver moments before the pedestrian was hit. Also, what appears to be an 18-wheeler enters a side street, and that driver may have seen the wanted vehicle as it fled.

Police are hoping someone can provide more information leading to an arrest. They suspect the vehicle may belong to someone who lives in the Port Allen area and was traveling to work at the time.

Carlos K. Edwards, a 53-year-old from Sacramento, California, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The Port Allen Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division can be contacted at (225) 343-5525.
