The Public Service Commission will consider adopting a renewable energy standard for Louisiana utilities today.
Under a voluntary program, goals would be set for utilities to use a certain percentage of power generated by non-traditional sources.
Utilities that meet the goals would be eligible for financial incentives.
Louisiana could be the first state in the Deep South to adopt a renewable energy standard.
