BATON ROUGE- City leaders approved auctioning two abandoned firehouses in an effort to curb crime at the locations.
Wednesday, the metro council moved to sell the buildings on Osage and Rosenwald. Leaders hope groups will buy the fire stations and redevelop them into structures that will benefit the community.
Recently, the WBRZ News 2 Investigative Unit uncovered illegal activity happening at six old fire stations. Among the rule breakers were prostitutes turning tricks at the sites.
Two other stations are already planned for changes: one on Foster Drive will be used by BRCC and another on Government at Lobdell will be demolished to make way for a road.
