Juveniles convicted after EBR crime spree
BATON ROUGE- Prosecutors say three boys ranging from 11 to 15 years old were responsible for a week-long crime spree in September.
Jacobi Spears, 14, was found guilty this afternoon on charges including four counts of armed robbery. Zachariah Dorsey, 15, also pleaded guilty to numerous charges stemming from the same incidents.
The 11-year-old was given immunity for testifying against the others.
Police say the boys robbed six people at gunpoint, including a pregnant woman. The 11-year-old testified that Spears held a gun to her stomach during a robbery in the Belfair neighborhood.
LSU Police arrested the older boys on campus and discovered their guns. They also reported one of the suspects had an ankle monitor. The robbery victims also reported seeing an ankle monitor, helping link the suspects to the crimes.
Prosecutors say young people involved in these sort of crimes typically become more brazen, leading to more problems, and credited the quick police work which solved this case.
