Prosecutor: Nebraska boy recanted story about mom sex
Nebraska prosecutors dropped a sexual-assault charge against an Omaha woman after her teenage son recanted allegations that she forced him to have sex with her nightly.
The boy originally said he was abused by his mother when he was in seventh and eighth grade.
Deputy Douglas County Attorney Molly Smith said Friday that the boy has recanted the allegations and that she doesn't have enough evidence without his testimony.
Smith would not provide details of the boy's statement.
The Associated Press is not identifying the woman to protect the boy's identity as a possible victim of sexual assault.
Trial for the now-42-year-old woman was set for Aug. 19, but the charge was dropped Aug. 9.
Smith says she has no plans to refile the charge.
