Proposed law targets LHSAA split
BATON ROUGE- Lawmakers will discuss a proposed law that would, effectively, ban public schools from participating in the LHSAA.
The bill, filed by State Rep. Bob Hensgens (R-Abbeville), "prohibits public high school participation in interscholastic athletics regulated by any association that discriminates among schools based on school admissions criteria in classifying schools into divisions for competition."
Recently, the LHSAA made changes to high school football playoffs, splitting public and private schools for the playoff bracket.
