KILLONA, La. - St. Charles Parish sheriff's deputies say a prisoner has escaped from the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center in Killona.
Deputies say 35-year-old Charles J. Conrad III was working in the kitchen at the jail when he climbed over a fence near a trash bin early Tuesday morning.
He was last seen wearing an orange jump suit.
Conrad, a state Department of Corrections prisoner, was being held on charges of armed robbery and second-degree battery and has family in the St. Rose and Kenner areas.
