BATON ROUGE - DOTD closed the Pride-Baywood Bridge over Witten Creek in Brownsfield until further notice.
The closure comes after Department of Transportation officials said that the pilings below the bridge needed repair.
Officials say that drivers can use Greenwell Springs road to Liberty Road as an alternate route.
Department of Public Works Director David Guillory says the bridge is just one of seven bridges that DOTD and the department has worked on since the start of the summer.
One of those bridges being the Frenchtown Road bridge near Baker.
Paul Stockstill says the thirty five minute reroute to get out of his neighborhood was a hassle, but he's glad the bridge is repaired.
"If they could've done it in a timely manner. I understand that there's some lapsed time," said Stockstill.
Guillory says the funding for bridge repairs comes from federal and state governments.
