Price gouging laws have been placed into effect due to Tropical Storm Bonnie.
Price gouging is when a business sells merchandise much higher than is fair during a civil emergency. The law prohibits the raising of prices above the pre-emergency levels, unless there is a shortage.
Gasoline and rooms at hotels are among the items included in the price gouging law.
If you suspect price gouging, please contact the Louisiana Attorney General's Office at 800-351-4889.
