Preparing for New Year's Eve parties
BATON ROUGE- As the clock counts down to the final seconds of 2010, restaurants across the capital city are prepping for their year end parties.
At Juban's Restaurant, workers are expecting more than 500 people to fill the seats throughout the evening. Across town the Camelot Club is gearing up for its first ever 'Downtown Countdown,' a party featuring food, drinks and music.
"We're expecting a really great crowd, a few hundred people at least, we've sold hundreds of tickets and it should be a really great time," said Jimmy Ward, who is setting up the Club's party.
Servers at the Camelot Club spent their morning polishing glasses and silverware to prepare for the high-class party.
"It does take hours to polish the silverware to clean the glasses to get everything set up on the tables and to put everything out where we need it to be," said Ward.
At Juban's Restaurant, kitchen staff were busy chopping vegetables and cooking their world famous gumbo for the evening's bash. They're prepared for their busiest night of the year.
"I think it's been a pretty good year so far and we're expecting this to be one of the best nights we've had so far, we've got the band coming and all of our tables are reserved so we're really expecting to be at capacity," said Matthew Carlin, who's considered an expert server at the restaurant.
Both locations are expecting large crowds, but they're not the only places you can find a New Year's party. For more ideas on how you can spend your evening click here.
