BATON ROUGE - Police say a 19-year-old pregnant woman is in critical condition Friday after her boyfriend said he accidentally shot her in the midsection Thursday night. 

Baton Rouge Police charged Jason Williams, 19, with negligent injury and illegal use of a weapon Thursday night. Police said Williams stated he accidentally shot his girlfriend while removing a handgun from a dresser.

Police said the 19-year-old girlfriend was transported to a local hospital and is in critical, but stable condition. Williams was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
