PRAIRIEVILLE - A 49-year-old pilot from Ascension Parish died in a plane crash in Florida over the weekend.

Additional details of the crash were released Monday. Ross Grand died in the crash at the Ocala International Airport. Authorities said his plane went down shortly after reporting an issue with the engine. Grand was attempting to return to the airport but crashed.

A woman on board the plane was injured. She was taken to a hospital. Her name was not released, the Associated Press reported.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the propeller-driven aircraft was a Mooney M20. The National Transportation Safety Board will determine the cause of the crash.
