Prairieville man killed by train after lying on tracks
PRAIRIEVILLE, La. - A 21-year-old is dead after a train hit him while he was lying on the train tracks, according to Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office Lt. Col. Bobby Webre.
Webre reports that Ryan Freeman, of Prairieville was struck by a south bound Kansas City Southern train near Swamp Road around 3:15 a.m. Saturday morning.
The Kansas City Southern train conductor said that Freeman was lying down between the rails of the tracks and never looked up or moved as he approached, according to Webre.
Freeman was pronounced dead by the coroner on scene due to the injuries he sustained when he was struck.
The investigation is ongoing pending autopsy results.
