Pot left on stove causes Chippewa Street fire
BATON ROUGE - Investigators traced the cause of a fire that broke out at a house in the 3000 block of Chippewa Street on Wednesday morning was caused by a pot, left on the stove unattended.
Baton Rouge firefighters responded to the fire shortly before 5:30 a.m. to find fire coming from the front of the house. After they pried off burglar bars to gain access to the home, BRFD were able to get the fire under control.
The house received heavy fire and smoke damage, but no injuries were reported in connection with the fire.
Investigators indicated to News 2 that the cause of the Chippewa Street blaze was traced back to a pot left on the burner in the kitchen by one of the residents of the home.
