Port Allen: This is our fresh start
PORT ALLEN- Fences are on the mend here, just days after voters elected a new mayor and ended a more than year-long ordeal that centered around the actions of the town's former mayor.
The city council and Richard Lee, the newly-elected mayor, are meeting and talking about how to move on in a positive direction. People at Wednesday night's council meeting said they could feel a difference, and it was for the better.
The group calls their position a fresh start.
"I think we have a brighter future," Councilwoman Ray Helen Lawrence said. "There may be some of the bickering we had with the council, but I do see a calmness," she said.
