PORT ALLEN - City Leaders in Port Allen will have one more shot to pass a budget before the calendar flips to 2014.
The City Council called a special meeting for Monday, to get a deal done. The budget is six months overdue, and the city is still operating on last year's budget because city council members and former mayor Deedy Slaughter could not agree on one.
Voters recalled Slaughter in November, and Gov. Bobby Jindal appointed Lynn Robertson interm mayor last week. She previously served as mayor from 1993-2004 and will serve until a special election in April.
If Robertson and council members can not agree on a budget Monday, they will have to address the issue in the new year.
