Port Allen men arrested for extortion, theft
Belle Rose- Authorities in Assumption Parish have arrested two men accused of extorting a large sum of money for an unwanted paint job at an elderly man's home in Belle Rose.
The victim said the men asked to paint his home. The elderly man said he did not need any painting done but the painters sprayed the roof of his shed and sprayed the asphalt roof of his house anyway.
The men told the elderly victim he owed him $5,000.00 for the job.
The men stated "if he did not pay him the money, he was going to put a lien against his house."
The elderly person ended up paying this subject over $10,000.
Investigators gathered information on the men in question, and the elderly victim was able to identify them.
Joseph Cooper and Karl Cooper, both of Port Allen, were booked into the Assumption Parish Jail on multiple charges of theft and extortion.
