Port Allen mayor RECALLED!
PORT ALLEN- Voters will have to return to the polls to elect a mayor, since most registered voters here decided to recall Deedy Slaughter.
Saturday's vote ends an eleven month ordeal that began when the WBRZ News 2 Investigative Unit uncovered the mayor used taxpayer money to attend the Presidential Inauguration. She claimed there was city business conducted and even said she met with Senator Mary Landrieu about city issues but there is no proof of any of the meetings she suggested. Even the senator said she had no recollection of discussing anything about the city of Port Allen.
Slaughter has about a week to vacate her office unless she contests the election results.
