Port Allen man arrested on attempted murder charges
MARKSVILLE - A Port Allen man is in custody in Avoyelles Parish after he allegedly tried to run over sheriff's deputies and then led officers on a vehicle chase that went through two parishes.
The Town Talk reports 45-year-old Kenneth Adams was arrested early Friday in Point Coupee Parish after the chase.
He later was booked with two counts of attempted first-degree murder of a police officer, aggravated flight from a police officer, obstruction of justice, driving under suspension and possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.
The incident began when deputies confronted Adams in the parking lot of a Simmesport business when they suspected he was about to make a narcotics transaction.
