PRAIRIEVILLE – A woman from Port Allen was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash on I-10 in Ascension Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Investigators say 42-year-old Tammy Taylor was driving east on I-10 this morning when her car ran off the road, crossed the median and was hit by an oncoming SUV.

Taylor’s car was hit on the driver’s side door and she was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  The SUV’s driver had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.  LSP investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor, and said both drivers were wearing seat belts.

State troopers do not know why Taylor drove off the interstate and into the median, and are still investigating the crash.
