DENHAM SPRINGS - The most popular library branch in Livingston Parish is set for a more than $3 million expansion.

The Denham Springs-Walker branch sees about 200,000 people each year. That's equal to the other four Livingston Parish libraries put together. With all the growth going on in the parish the library feels it's time to expand.

"I'm not surprised. I think it should expand. I'm ready for it. I think we all are," said library patron Evelyn Law. "As Livingston Parish is growing we're going to have to have bigger libraries. There's not going to be room to accommodate if we don't."

The expansion will create more room for meetings and activities. It will also at least double the number of computers inside the library and create more parking. The library has saved up money over the years for the expansion that will go out for bids in the spring.
