Pope meets with Fidel Castro
HAVANA - Pope Benedict met today for about a half an hour with former Cuban leader Fidel Castro. The meeting followed a Mass that drew hundreds of thousands of people to the shrine of Cuba's communist revolution. In his homily, the Pope demanded greater freedome for the Catholic Church in Cuba, and denounced what he called "fanaticism" that tries to impose its truth on others. He also called for an end to Cuba's isolation; a reference to the 50-year U.S. economic embargo and failure of the U.S and Cuba to forge peace.
