Pope asked to replace Irish Bishops
Victims of Catholic sexual abuse in Ireland wrote Pope Benedict XVI and asked him to replace the bishops implicated in withholding evidence from police and to take responsibility for the church's concealment of child molestation. The letter comes a week before a special Vatican summit involving the Pope and Ireland's bishops to craft a response to the scandal rocking the Irish church. Three bishops have offered to resign. The letter urges the Pope to accept the harm that has been caused "by child-abusing priests, nuns and brothers."
