The Pony Express won't be delivering that mail next week as scheduled because of an outbreak of equine herpes virus blamed for the deaths of a dozen horses in nine Western states. The famous ride from St. Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California is postponed until August. Its the first time the re-enactment has been postponed in the 32 year history of the ride. The group's president says it isn't worth the risk posed by the highly contagious virus.
