Pontoon Bridge to close in intervals for drivers
ST. MARTINVILLE - Authorities in St. Martin Parish will start closing the Pontoon Bridge for an hour twice a day because of falling water levels.
The sheriff's office said the bridge will close from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and again from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. each day until further notice.
Major Ginny Higgins said the receding water was causing problems for both water and road traffic, and people should plan alternate routes using I-10 while the bridge is closed.
