Police: Woman used dead sister's ID at hospital
SLIDELL - Police arrested a Slidell woman after they said she used her dead sister's identity to get free medical attention.
Detectives said Diondre Jones, 26, checked into Slidell Memorial Hospital under the name of her late sister, Delores Jones. Police said she also gave hospital staff her deceased sister's date of birth and Social Security number in attempt to avoid paying any medical bills. Hospital staff said Jones also walked into the clinic wearing a memorial t-shirt with her late sister's picture on it.
The hospital did not notice the false identification until after Jones left. Police said they spotted Jones in a nearby parking lot soon after, where she gave investigators her real name.
When asked by police why she gave a false identity, investigators said she told them "they must have gotten the name from this shirt."
Police charged Jones with Medicaid fraud and booked her into the St. Tammany Parish jail.
