NEW ORLEANS - People who have handguns and rifles can receive payouts with no questions asked at a gun buyback sponsored by the New Orleans Police Department on May 12.
The Times-Picayune reports the event will start at 9 a.m. at Little Zion Baptist Church, 4821 Earhart Blvd. Police will pay $75 for handguns and $200 for assault rifles. The weapons can be new or old. Damaged guns also will be accepted.
Police said owners should bring the weapons unloaded and in a bag or container. Ammunition should be brought in separate containers.
