ORLANDO - A police officer in an Orlando suburb died in one of numerous overnight shootings that involved police in three different U.S. cities.

By Saturday morning, six law enforcement officers had been shot in different altercations across the country.  One of the six had died - an officer in the Kissimmee Police Department about 23 miles from Orlando.

Officer Matthew Baxter, of Kissimmee, lost his life.  A second Kissmimme officer was also shot there.  Sgt. Sam Howard was last listed in "grave, critical condition," the local police chief said.

The officers were shot investing a suspicious persons call when they were shot.  There are four suspects in the case, police said.

Also in Florida, two other lawmen were shot in a shooting in the Jacksonville area.

Two Pennsylvania State Troopers were shot in a situation Friday night, too.  The suspect in this shooting was dead, authorities said.
