PLAQUEMINE - Police arrested a man they said shot and killed a teen during a dispute at his home in Plaquemine, and said the shooter is claiming self-defense.
Chief Orain Gulotta said Wilbert Myles, 17, of Plaquemine was shot and killed during an altercation with Cordias Walker, 22, at Walker's residence.
Officers responded to the shooting at 58853 Allen Street around 1 p.m. Gulotta said Myles was found with multiple gunshot wounds and flown to a Baton Rouge hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Investigators said Walker told investigators he and Myles were arguing over drugs when Myles pulled out a revolver, and Walker shot him in self-defense. However, police said they searched the home and surrounding area and couldn't find a second weapon. They also said none of the witnesses they spoke to backed up Walker's story about Myles pulling a gun.
Police arrested Walker in suspicion of second-degree murder and booked him into the parish jail.
