Police seek driver in deadly Fla. day care crash
WINTER PARK, FL - Authorities say the man they're seeking in the investigation of a deadly car crash into a Florida day care center was the vehicle's driver.
The Florida Highway Patrol previously called 26-year-old Robert Alex Corchado a "person of interest" in the Wednesday afternoon crash. Early Thursday, spokeswoman Wanda Diaz said in a statement that Corchado was driving the Dodge Dorango that struck a convertible, which jumped a curb and smashed into the KinderCare building. One girl died. Fourteen others, mostly children, were injured.
Corchado is wanted on charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and serious injuries. Officials believe Corchado was trying to flee Orlando.
He's been arrested eight times since 2000. In December, he was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash and drug charges.
