Man turns himself in following fatal domestic violence shooting

HAMMOND – One man that was involved in a domestic violence shooting that left one person dead has turned himself in to the Hammond Police Department. 

Police were looking for 25-year-old Martin Haynes on Monday. He was wanted for second degree murder and obstruction of justice. The police department reported on Tuesday that Haynes turned himself into police custody Tuesday morning without incident. 

The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Sunday at the Value Place Inn on Westin Oaks Drive. While on the way to the scene, an officer heard screaming at the Shell gas station located in the 3100 block of Highway 190 West and noticed a woman lying on the ground. 

The officer stopped to help the woman, 22-year-old T'keyah Hooker, who was fatally shot.

Police arrested 37-year-old Eric McDonald, 23-year-old Jireal Lee and 39-year-old Marqueita Moore were arrested following the incident and they are cooperating with police. 

No further details about the incident have been released at the time of this post.
