Police search for armed robbers in 'Jason' masks
BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge Police are searching for three armed robbers who stormed into a home wearing "Jason"-style Halloween masks then tied up and beat people inside with guns. It happened in the Magnolia Woods subdivision early Saturday morning.
Matthew McGhee, a homeowner who wasn't home at the time, said the four people inside were playing video games when they heard a loud knocking on the door. They didn't answer, but then they heard something in the hallway.
"They thought it was me," said McGhee.
When they turned around, they saw three black males coming at them with guns. One victim saw one of the robbers carrying a pump action shotgun, possibly a Remington 870 pump action, and the other two with semi-automatic pistols.
The robbers tied up two of the people inside with tape, then beat and pistol-whipped all four people with the guns, leaving a trail of blood along the floors inside. They then ransacked the house, taking computers, cell phones, a game system and wallets from all four people.
This is not the first crime that has happened at the home. McGhee said his car has been broken into three times-- a year ago, two weeks ago and Saturday sometime before or after the robbery.
McGhee said he believes he was targeted but is not sure why. He said two friends had just returned from a bar minutes before the attack, and he said he believes the robbers may have followed them inside.
While the suspects were wearing masks, McGhee said they were not wearing gloves. He said he believes the fingerprints they left behind in the trail of blood on his floors will lead police to the masked attackers.
All four victims are now staying at other locations.
The victims said the robbers were all thinly built, 5' 8" to 5' 10" tall and wearing jeans, hoodies and "Jason" masks. Police do not have any suspects. If you have any information on the attack, you are urged to call Baton Rouge Police immediately.
