Police: Scammer targets attorneys
BATON ROUGE - Investigators accused a Baton Rouge man this week of scamming at least three area attorneys.
Baton Rouge Police arrested Gregory James Edwards, 32, on multiple accounts of felony theft.
Police say Edwards claimed to have been in traffic crashes, then took cash advances from the lawyers after signing representation contracts. The victims later learned that there was no record of an accident.
Investigators asked anyone else who'd been caught in this scam to contact the Financial Crimes Division at (225) 389-3871.
