GONZALES - Police arrested a 23-year-old Gonzales woman after they said she stole an elderly woman's personal information and used it buy a luxury car.

Police charged Brelle Ford with one count of bank fraud and one count of felony identity theft.

Investigators said Ford used false information to apply for a nearly $25,000 auto loan, then used the money to buy a 2011 BMW. Police said they found out the information came from an 82-year-old woman whom Ford used to work for as a personal care attendant.

Detectives said Ford befriended the woman, then "betrayed" her to steal her Social Security number.

Authorities booked Ford into the Ascension Parish jail where is awaiting a bond hearing.
