Police say infant found dead in storage unit after 14 years
LAFAYETTE - Police arrested a Lafayette woman on murder charges after investigators said an infant's body was found in a storage unit this week, 14 years after the child died.
According to KATC-TV, Lafayette Police charged 57-year-old Rebecca Landry with second-degree murder Thursday after the gruesome discovery was reported to investigators.
Police said they were called to the 2100 block of Verot School Road where a man told them he had been going through boxes from a storage unit he'd purchased when he found what he believed was a dead infant.
When they questioned Landry, police said she confessed the infant died in 2001.
Police booked Landry into the Lafayette Parish Jail for second-degree murder.
